Dan Roihl, Rochester Commons

As I enter my third full season with GSCS, I cannot help but feel incredibly fortunate to be part of this amazing organization.  As an open, non-auditioned choir, GSCS is built on the core philosophy that music is a gift for everyone.  At the same time, our mission of engaging and enriching the community through high-quality, moving performances is something we all take very seriously, and I am constantly impressed by the capacity of our singers to rise to the occasion, and live up to the challenges set before them.

Our 2017-18 season is shaping up to be tremendously exciting, beginning with a joint Christmas program with the Granite State Ringers bell choir.  We could not be more thrilled to share the stage with such a fine ensemble!  Our program will feature the perfect seasonal balance of old favorites and new surprises, both sacred and secular, showcasing the stylistic breadth of both ensembles, and offering something for everyone.

We are especially excited this season to introduce our new Accompanist, Michael Effenberger.  Michael is a phenomenally gifted, flexible, and hard-working musician, whose stylistic versatility is the perfect complement to our own.  I know he will make a powerful contribution to our work, and that we will learn a lot from him.

Looking forward to another great season!

Dan
