Dear Friends,
I could not be more excited to begin this 2018-19 season with GSCS! We begin this new musical year with a wonderfully rich and varied program called “Shout Hallelujah: Songs of Joy and Praise”. Choral music of the Christian tradition, whether intended for use in liturgy or outside of worship, comprises some of the greatest musical literature of Western civilization. This concert will showcase the breadth and depth of music expressly written to glorify God through song. True to our mission, our performances will span a wide range of styles, characters, and periods, with representative works from Renaissance polyphony, modern classical, avant garde, spirituals, and gospel music. This eclectic, energetic, and largely upbeat program will give us a chance to revive some favorites from past concerts, as well as learn some great new material. It is sure to please our audiences, and I feel confident we will all have a great time as well.
As for the spring, all I can say right now is that I have been working with the board on something very big. As certain elements are yet to be finalized, I do not want to let the cat out of the bag just yet, but hopefully we will be able to share more information about that soon.
I can’t wait to see you all and get started!
Best,
Dan
