Dear past and present Granite State Choral Society members —

Its hard to think about Spring when we have been sitting in snow and temperatures below zero!  Believe it or not, it is already time to think about the Spring concert series.  If there is one semester you consider singing, I sincerely hope it is this one.  I know that you will enjoy the music on the program.  Yes, the texts are 95% in English (!) but the focus is music and texts from “the Islands” specifically the British Isles (although you know me and somehow a snippet of music from the Pacific Isles might pop up as well!)

I love Celtic music and folk songs in general and the program contains familar music such as The Ash Grove, Irish Tune from County Derry (aka Danny Boy), Auld Lang Syne, Burn’s A Red, Red Rose and Ye Banks and Braes as well as a few Rutter tunes (All Things Bright and Beautiful), A Welsh Lullaby, Mairi’s Wedding and a Miner’s Life.  Always a touch of Broadway brings “We Dance” from Once on This Island.  There will also be a return of MacPherson’s Farewell.

The concert will be shared with the Berwick Academy Upper School Chorus and several of the tunes we will do together as a joint venture accompanied by a chamber orchestra.

Please consider bringing your voice and presence to our first rehearsal this Sunday at 4:00PM.  Registration begins at 3:15PM.  We will jump right into the music at 4:00PM.  I know it will touch you and be one of the best programs yet.

I hope to see you there — many thanks.

Stay tuned,

— Seth
